URGENT PRESCRIPTION ORDERING INFORMATION

To reduce the risks of spreading Coronavirus for patients and staff we will NOT accept paper prescription requests until further notice.  We do not want patients entering the practice exposing themselves or our staff to risk of infection. You should request your prescription in one of the following ways:-

*NHS App - available in the App Store (Apple or Android). It’s easy to use and you can order your prescriptions quickly and easily. You can even see when they've been approved by a GP.

*Go to PatientAccess.com - we can send you a link to get started in creating an account if you do not already have one.

*You can email us at prescriptions.mrmc@nhs.net

You need to decide where we should send your prescription electronically. It can be to any pharmacy. You will not be able to collect your prescription from the Reception desk - please let us know your pharmacy preference.

We no longer accept requests or produce paper prescriptions.

In some circumstances during this pandemic we will accept telephone requests for those unable to use the alternatives above, but you will still need to have a nominated pharmacy.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Appointments

The Practice operates an appointment system for all surgeries. Appointments are available throughout the day from 08:30 - 11:00, 11:00 – 13:00, 14:00 – 16:00 and 16:00 – 18:00.

Evening appointments are available on a Thursday between 18:30 – 20:00 by appointment for those patients who find daytime opening hours difficult to attend. The surgery premises will be open on a Thursday evening until 20:00 for routine face to face enquiries (the telephone lines will be inaccessible as they will be diverted to the emergency services after18:.30 on a Thursday).

GP Practices in Eastern Cheshire are working together to give patients better access to healthcare services by offering additional appointments to see a clinical member of the practice team on weekdays outside of 08:00 - 18:30 and on Saturdays and Sundays.

Appointments can be made by telephoning 01565 743100 during surgery hours. We aim to provide an appointment within 48 hours of your request although appointments can be pre-booked 2 -6 weeks in advance. Wherever possible, you will be offered an appointment with the doctor of your choice but this cannot always be guaranteed especially in cases of urgency. If your medical problem is urgent we will always endeavour to see you on the same day - your call may be triaged by a nurse or doctor to determine which member of the clinical team is most qualified to deal with your problem. Please telephone as soon after opening as possible for an urgent appointment so that demand can be accommodated.

The practice also offers an On-line Internet appointment booking service which allows patients to directly book an appointment at the practice that best meets your available time. In order to utilise this service you must ensure that you are a registered user. If you have not registered as yet, please contact the surgery reception.

We are constantly monitoring the effectiveness of our appointment system and it may be subject to change in the future.

Triage

The purpose of ‘triage’ is to ensure that all patients are dealt with fairly by an appropriate member of the team and to ensure that problems are dealt with urgently if necessary. You will be asked for your name, telephone number and a brief description of the problem. All staff adhere to strict terms of confidentiality. We will endeavour to contact you within the hour and therefore ask that you remain available for this time – if your condition deteriorates you should telephone the surgery again.

Why it May Be Difficult Getting an Appointment

The surgery is particularly busy on Mondays and Tuesdays especially during the winter months. If your appointment is not urgent, try to book on a less busy day after 11:00. If you let us know as soon as possible you can't attend your appointment, we can then make it available for another patient. It is not always possible to offer you an appointment with the doctor of your choice particularly during holiday times or in cases of emergency. In this circumstance, you will be offered an appointment with an alternative clinician who is qualified to deal with your problem. The receptionist may feel that your enquiry could be best dealt with by have a telephone consultation with a doctor. He or she will ring you at an agreed time on the telephone number you have given.

Telephone Advice

The doctors and nurses are available for telephone advice at pre-set times during weekdays. The receptionists can inform you of these times and book you in for a telephone consultation with a doctor who will ring you back at a pre-set time.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
